> Which UK Service provider for P990
Bookmark topic
OK currently I have an Orange 3G card for laptop internet and my P910 T-Mobile is for voice and GPRS on the handset. Both are pay monthly. It just occured to me that if/when I upgrade to the P990 I could use it for voice and as a 3G Bluetooth modem that it could replace both and may actually save me money.
It looks currently like the only option in the UK is Orange but I can't make sense of the tarrifs and the web site is awful. Currently I get 75MB per month for £25 inc line rental on the Data card. And I can get 300 mins and 100 texts inc line rental for £20 .. but if I want to add data to the voice bundle it costs .... £41 for 80MB?? I have called Orange and they can't explain why it should cost more, in fact they agree since there is only one line rental it SHOULD cost less??
Are there any other options I should consider?

Thanks I'm sure I can wait that long, any clues about the tarrifs is there any more information out there?

One thing's almost certain: it won't be on T-Mobile for months after release! I'm thinking of ending my contract of eight years with them so I can get this straight away - they seem to take forever to release new phones. >:(

..although T-mobile were the first to discontinue the P910.
Not that that means anything.

I won't be buying on a contract. I didn't with p910 and I am glad of that. Provider specific firmware is a nightmare especially on a smart phone.

Here here (or should that be "hear hear"?? Never quite sure

)
I *did* buy a branded P910 (Orange UK) -- and made a major major error.
A locked phone, crappy UI, delayed release, severely restricted firmware upgrades, 12-month contract commitment, lower resale value -- all of this cack was simply not worth what I saved over the cost of an unbranded phone.

my contract is up for renewel in March but instead of getting a P990 on Vodafone I'm gonna get them to give me the best phone they can for the renewel (always threaten to leave, they chopped £200 off the price of my P900) and sell what they give me + the 6 months old K750, combined they should be enough to buy the P990 outright from somewhere like Cash n carrion or Ebuyer.

Yep, definatly agree, if you can afford it sim-free get it that way. Or wait till its been out and people have worked out how to un-brand it. Orange are bound to mess about with the phone in order to try and make it more "user-friendly" and remove tons of functionality, but there will also likely be work arounds (like using SE desktop to get rid of orange homescreen on the p910)

Does un-branding mean you can use the SE update site for firmware upgrades?
