> How bad is SMS ?

Hi,
I currently have a Nokia 8210. It's ideal because it's small and does most of what I need although the screen keeps disappearing. I was going to change the phone to a T68. However I must write around 180 SMS messages every month and from what I can tell the T68 is very poor for entering SMS. Some people have said that the latest software helps but I'm worried that if I get this T68 I'll regret it as some people have said that the SMS speed and apostrophe problem is so annoying. I had a T18s for a year and I remember it was a wee bit slow too so seems to be an Ericsson trait.
Has anyone heard of a more specific date for the 7650 release (I know it's sometime in Q2)?
By the way, they don't have any stock in yet but

It is a bit slow, slower than my N6210 for sure but not THAT slow. If you are used to type on small keyboard you`ll get used to it after a while. I have it for 1 day and I`m able to write pretty fast already...

From my p.o.v. the text messaging is the worst aspect of the phone. I send in excess of 300 a month and writing them takes an eternity as the response from keying in to appearing on screen is so slow!
Oh well, there are lots of other things to compensate though so can't moan too much!

The 7650 is still a bit off, so Q2 probably means this summer. It is also a tad to big for my taste, sizewise more like the Communicator, and that is just to big, imo.
But, the big screen and the camera is a big plus, I'll give it that.
Sms handling on the T68 is not that bad, just as long as you don't save your messages on the SIM (slows down the inbox down)

I wish I could say the same, or near enough, for the T68. With all messages in my inbox, 'outbox' erased, and nothing in my templates, and nothing stored on my sim card, it is still very slow.

So Ed4mon, do you regret buying the T68. Would you do it again or just keep the 8210?
I'm very tempted not to bother except the calendar function and it's ability to show a monthly view would be very useful to me. The calendar on the 8210 is useless.
So what other phones did people look at when they bought their T68 ?

I myself, am happy with the phone in an overall sense, there are a few things that you'll have to get used to after making a switch from Nokia to Ericsson, esp in terms of phonebook management, but there are many postive points about the phone.
With the rumours of sms speeding up with the latest software upgrade, things may be looking up.
Best thing to do is probably buy one, test it out for a week, and if you don't like it, bring it back (just make sure you're extremely careful with it).
I've donated my 8210 to my younger sister and don't miss it all. it maybe worth getting a BT Cellnet Genie sim card as you get free WAP calls and 300 free text messages a month. You have to pay £10 a month, but then you get to use that on calls anyway so I find it's good value for money.
