Hey guys... I was trying to search for this on the site but found nothing, so please forgive me if I didn't search well enough.

I was wondering if there's anyway to get e-mails in real time on the phone without buying a Blackberry? (Or at least to be notified on my mobile phone of e-mails I receive, and then can be downloaded to my phone).

I've read about movamail.com, but I couldn't tell if it gives you your e-mail in real time.

That depends on what phone you use. The P-series built-in email clients can be programmed to download your emails at specified intervals and then notify you with an audio alert when new mail arrives.

Besides that, I am yet to come across a mail client that fits your requirements that works with non-smartphones

Even my old T230 was smart enough to be programmed to check for new mails at predefined intervals...


Yet to come across a "real time" email alerter tho...
Only thing i know is sms alerts...but thats something else...

True. I once used a T230 too. But, from his post it does seem that he is looking for an app. 3rd party apps are exclusive to smartphones. And J2ME midlets are not classified as apps. Again, I know of no midlet that can deliver what he wants.

Most non-smartphones have no way of alerting you, even if they could retrieve mails at intervals.

the z520's email settings allow for a check interval anywhere from 5 minutes up to 12 hours. it also alerts me when i have new email, the alerts can be set up for audio, vibrate, light effects or all 3.

yeah, i am basically looking to turn my phone into a smartphone! i guess it's impossible... i have found many ways to alert your phone with an SMS when an e-mail is received, but it's still hard to have an e-mail come to your phone ready to open and read without downloading from a server.

oh well!

@Holz: You'll have to go purchase a smartphone. And do cross-check before letting go of the money. There are smartphones that DO NOT alert you of new mails.

Hey guys according to me all P K and F series phone have built in e-mail client. You just need to configure it. But some clients can't download ATTACHMENTS but you can send any type and any size file using phone's built in mail client. PROVIDE you mail server gives you pop3 access.
