> P990 Why not get the K-Jam?
Bookmark topic
I’ve had the:
P800 Nothing else like it at the time.
P900 Liked the flip, I did not use it on the P800. I also bought it thinking that I could update the firmware but SE failed to mention that was only if your provider would let you (and I had one that never updated) and we all know about the software imposed external memory limit.
P910 Like the flip even more. I’d like to take it off so the phone would be thinner in me pocket but I like to use it for sending text messages. For me the P910 is what the P900 should have been. I got it direct from SE so I do the firmware updates and I wanted the (a) variant. I really do get better reception more often with the 850 support. Of course the larger external memory support is cool too. I have a 1GB full of OGGs.

Though now seeing some of the P990 info it looks as though they are implying that the P910 does not have full Memory Stick Duo Pro support. Is it limited to 1 or 2GB, since they are advertising the P990 as having support for 4GB?
Anyway…
Why not the K-Jam?
It’s shipping is small quantities now.
It has quad band GSM.
It has 802.11g. Though I can’t see 10Mbit limit of 802.11b big a big deal, it’s still nice to have 802.11g.
It comes with Skype. I think that would be handy.
You don’t have to buy Sony Memory Sticks anymore. They tend to be little more expensive and harder to find.
Some don’t like the fact that it’s has a Microsoft OS but with the limited apps on the P series that would be a plus for me. I’d also welcome any improvements in the use of Office documents and Outlook connectivity.
Why wait for the P990?

I'm inclined to agree with you
Maybe best to continue the discussion in one of these threads though

True enough but I would imagine that an unbranded P990 will sell for at least that amount too, probably even more.
You can pick up K-Jams with a monthly contract from about £40 onwards, depending on the monthly tarriff. Expansys were offering one for free on a £40 per month voda talkplan until recently, 18 month contract. Had it been any other operator, I'd have gone for it!

I'm no great photographer but you can find some pics taken by k-jam (and jasjar) in my thread
here
are there pictures taken by the P990 posted somewhere for comparison? I haven't seen any yet
I'd be interested to see a comparison between windows mobile 5 and uiq 3 too

My Father just got an spv-c550. Although it's not a great phone in itself, It's made me consider an i-mate SP5. The windows functionality is quite nice considering it's not touch screen....
