> Debranding the P910i from Vodafone
Bookmark topic
Hi there,
My brother gifted me his P910i a few months back. Have found it a treat to use as it entirely satisfies me.
The one big issue, I am facing however is that it is branded to Vodafone. I got it unlocked and even updated the software but still have not been able to get the MMS working as it is still locked by Voda settings. I have no idea now that how to get rid of this problem, as not using a P910 to its fullest extent is a one big handicap and takes the fun away, so now i seek your expertise on it.
Take care and have fun.....

When you say u cant use MMS due to Voda settings - i assume that you no longer have a Voda SIM or contract, so contacting them is puta the question?
I think you can get it debranded by changing the firmware, but "normal" people can't do it! You'd probably have to pay for that.
Any more ideas any1 - Im not claiming to be an expert at debranding.
Actually - could it be a simple case of chagning the MMS settings in Control Panel>Connections>Internet Accounts - Maybe delete the Voda MMS settings, or edit them for the current network that you are using by contacting your current service provider?
Sorry about the weildly answer

No Jon, really appreciate your reply. Actually, I have tried but i cannot edit or delete the settings of MMS. I am using Opera and even the built in internet browser is available, the only thing which is giving trouble is MMS. And yes i cannot contact Voda, as am not using it anymore and more importantly it is not available in our part of the world.
Btw what do u mean by updating firmware. Could u plz explain, I once did update the software through the site and i was expecting the problem to go but still nothing happened. Am not sure if updating firmware and updating software is one of the same thing or not.
Thanks

ei dude, ive just read ur post and we've the same prob with our phone (P910i) i lso tried my things how to get rid of this. This was also purchased in UK under vodafone but im already using it in other network im in ASIA now. I can use now different sim bu unlocking it but the problem is I can use the MMS even the Internet cause it was programed by vodafone setting. The customer service tell me that we could not do anything with it because it was pre-embedded in their network. Ive also search that we could change this by Debranding , what u have mentioned in ur post, by reprograming it in its original setting or cracking its firmware. By the way do u know firmware? So dude tell me also if u already get rid of this prob..
Thanks

Updating the firmware to a generic firmware version - this cant be don eon the SE update site & would involve a specialist.
Anyone got any contacts who do this? and what part of the world are you in - may help to get some local companies to debrand it?

Hey Jon,
I did once update it from SE site, it took me hours to do so and it upgraded the software and i lost all my contacts and the software i had installed before. Luckily i had taken the backups of stuff, so i am not very sure if updating would help as still the MMS settings are blocked to Voda.
Debranding !! well i am in Pakistan, I am sure there would be ppl who could do it but the only problem is to find them at the moment. I thought i will try my luck in here first before i start finding specialists.
Take care buddy
