I think the way to go is Free Software.
Currently, the industry is pushing JAVA.
I want to have total control of the UI on my phone.
I WANT LINUX !!

Montavista sells Linux distribution to Motorola and Palm.
Trolltrech has its QT lib (KDE) running on some chinese phones.
But I dont know if it's open source.
I'd like to find something like Debian or Gentoo and a mobile manufacturer provides the interface to GSM/GPRS/EDGE/WCDMA modems.
