> Exchange SP2 - p910i
Bookmark topic
Hi,
I have just installed SP2 on MS Exchange 2003 and wondered if this now means I can push mail to my P910i thru ActiveSync. From my research it looks like its on Windows Mobile 5 but thought I would ask anyway..
Thanx

The first 'Push' ActiveSync client is actually available for the 'P910i' from 'RoadSync' ...
http://www.dataviz.com/eforms[....]rt.html?redirect=publicpreview ... bear in mind the exchange server needs to be 'Exchange 2003' with the new SP2 (not sure if yet released or in final beta / preview...http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/default.mspx) installed. There will probably be some settings your exchange administrator will need to set-up in order to get it working. As far as I know the Windows Mobile 5 os requires an as yet unreleased update to get it working. Have been using the non-push Roadsync client and works perfectly!...would def recomment this.
Hope this helps.

Sorry, didn't see that you'd installed SP2...ignore that bit!

Hi,
I have already patched the ExchServer 2003 with SP2 and have just downloaded the RoadSync eval software so will have a look this arvo..
What are you paying for your license with RoadSync?? Is it worth it or should I roll out Windows Mobile5 to end users instead..
I would prefer to use the P910i or 990i but this is quite a cruscial seeling point for our MD...
Cheers

Hi,
Sorry I only noticed you'd said that SP2 was installed after I wrote the reply.
I haven't tried any Windows Mobile 5 devices so I can't really comment on how they perform in relation to over-the-air synchronization and features, however I can say the Roadsync software (prior to the 'Push' release - I haven't tried this as yet as do not have sp2) does synchronize email, contacts and calender very well - one point to note is that you can only sync one exchange account per device (at least that's what I believe to be the case).
With relation to cost of ownership, the client license is around £65. Note that this is a one off cost per device and doesn't require yearly subscriptions or the like (unlike the Blackberry, Visto etc solutions which need a mid-layer server). I believe that Dataviz do volume licencing of Roadsync so it may be worth checking out their website to see what the actual costs - I know they were v interested in getting some companies signed up to use the public preview version of the client when I spoke to a rep of theirs at last weeks smartphone show so it may be worth your while getting in contact with them!
Nb. Sorry, the cost includes vat so obviously for a business 17.5% of this would be deducted.

No worries,
I have installed the RoadSync and all synched fine over GPRS.. What doesnt work though & I am not even sure its supposed to (!) is the push function. I have to create a schedule for downloads...
It also needs some IIS config if Exch 2003 has SSL enabled.
Cheers
