NEW DELHI: Sony Ericsson has announced the launch of W550i and W900i, the latest additions to its Walkman series of phones announced recently.
The company also showcased the PDA phone P990i at the Mobile Expo 2005 being held in New Delhi from October 21 – October 24, 2005.
The W550i features a 1.3 mega pixel camera with 4 x digital zoom, full Internet browsing capability and a games console. It has a 176 x 220 pixel TFT display with video recording and full screen playback and 256MB user memory.
The phone is priced at Rs 16,500 and according to GM of Sony Ericsson's India operations Sudhin Mathur, this phone is currently available in the market. He added that the W900i would be available later this year, while the PDA phone P990i would be available in Q1, 2006.
Enumerating the features of P990i, Mathur said, “The P990i is a next- generation smart phone, which is Wi-Fi enabled, has a 2 mega pixel camera with auto focus and features a new hardware keyboard beneath the flip- down keypad. It also offers all the benefits of UMTS including video calling, high bandwidth multimedia downloads and the ability to browse the Internet with full HTML pages. Memory has been extended in order to handle all multimedia downloads and attachments.”

While you are at (taking Pictures) also try to fiddle / handle the W900
Its generated enough interest in me since I use S700 & am quiet comfy with it.
Maybe you could find out about its :
# Internet Browser functionality (actually using it might be tough at the Expo, still try )
# This External remote / Radio combo- Your take on its ease of use.
# User allocated Internal Memory
And Oh.. since you posted this in the P-Series section
Please check if any suspicious package or person may have a new P-Series prototype

definately m goin to take these points... as i didnt go yesterday nor today unluckyly i had fever but m goin 2moro as m aite now .... m really keen to see p990i m sure. they will allow to surf the cell phone...also keen to see lg's new 3 cell phones , one of them is gaming cell phone shud b intresting.. and yes also lookin fw to n-series of nokia.

*approx 40k price
*looks really smart no regrets with keyboard attached
*back of p990i is pretty decent
*flip closed keypad looks damn good , in pic it seems pretty dull but in real itz damn good
*will release in may in india
*no mobile shows in mumbai
*when u compare p910i screen wid p990i u do feel the difference but p990i has a wider screen which makes u in love wid it , u wont feel the screen smaller only
*p990i wasnt in working condition as uiq3.0 will launch in jan and they had in non workin condition
*negative point is only the look of back of the phone but its decen,t nothing great
*conclusion: now i can it has WOW factorl

Definately it is going to be launched in Q1 of 2006 in India. and I hope it is JAN.
I myself held the Phone at the mobile expo in DELHI and found one annoying (or maybe good thing)
1. the p990i roller button at the side of the phone rolls up and down but NOT side ways!!! we can press it but for escaping we cannot ush the button to the left or RIGHT side! i mean the FIVE WAY function of the scroll has been downsizd to just THREE (up, down and push)
This is somehting i am not able to digest as to how would it make the phoen user friendly even though they have given the escape button just beneath the scroll. unless and untill we use the phone for sometime we shall not able to asertain how friendly it is! THIS could be a major drawback also!

Some rumour that the average user got problem with 5 way JogDial so now it´s none JogDial backwards/forwards. I really gonna miss that.
