Hi. I had a P910i unbranded and unlocked from a dealer and now I cannot get a signal at all on the phone. I have tried 3 Sims, two Orange (original provider) and one O2 and nothing.
I then went to the SE update service and successfully went back to the latest Orange firmware hoping it would solve the problem but still I have no signal bars, just six dots where it should be. Any ideas please to save me having to go all the way to Salisbury to the shop tomorrow.
Thanks
Doug

The phone shouldn't have been blocked or anything like that, or you'd get it saying 'sim error' or 'invalid mobile' when you insert your sim card. Sounds like it could be a software problem linked to that unlocking/unbranding. I presume it worked fine before this was done?

The only thing I can suggest is take it back to where it was done, especially if you paid for it, and demad they put it right. The only problem is, as you've been doing things with the software they may refuse a refund or to put it right without extra charge, and claim it was something you did to it.

I rang the guy as soon as noticed there was no signal and then again later after I had tried the update service. He does not work weekends, so he won't see the messages until Monday. If I have to pay for another unlocking/debranding, then sobeit, just wanted ideas as to whether someone had come across this before.
Thanks

You need to have a service plan to get a network signal.

I have a service plan and an operational sim card. When I switch it on, I get the SE logo, a welcome to Orange message, then a handheld message. I then get about four green bars for about a second then they disappear and I get nothing. It's looking but can't retain the signal perhaps?
Flight mode is there and recognisable. It's not in flight mode. In the GSM select box, it has manual network selection. Does this make a difference. I can't find Orange UK in the list of options available anyway.
Anyone else?

I had the same problem, when I was in Germany. I get bars for about a second and then no network available, when I checked in control panel/connections/GSM networks and select network it said xxx prohibited, but that was, because the network operator did not enable worldwide browsing. After they enabled it, it worked. Check in control panel/connections/GSM networks. Make sure Search mode: Automatic is set. Check in the prefered tab if Orange is available and move it to the top of the list. If it is not there, hit select network and it will search for a available list of networks. Orange should pop up if the Orange sim is inserted. After the network it will tell you the status. Available, prohibited etc. This will give you an idea, why you do not get any permanent signal, network.

Yeah, put it on Automatic.

u are sure that all three DIFFERENT sims have the same issue?

I would have just dialed '112' with or without any SIM in the device & check which network it connects to.

This would atleast rule out if the device Phone is latching/searching some Signal or not.

In my country, no Operator has such Emergency Lines. but often while checking out new phones in shops, I dial 112, get the Error IVR msg of Orange (usually).. even without Sim (proving that the phone function is working)
