Bookmark topic
So i went to the sonyericsson support page and selected automatic installation and reached a point where it says to select open to the file prompt,so i did and then i download a 11.5 mb update which run right after the download completed.
But is that the update or the update service, cause i didn't notice an update taking place!
How do you update this thing for christs sake?

What's the difference? What's wrong with saving it?
But anyway i did select open, and it got executed after the download completed, but now what?
Does that mean that the update was succesful?

nope. you'v just downloaded the java interface the update service uses. keep on going though (make sure you've got java installed from
www.sun.com) and follow it though.

FYI - the update will take about 2 hours, maybe 3 and will swithc your phone off, DO NOT take the phone out of the cradle until it teel you to and when it switches itselkf back on.
Follow the instructions. its simple if you do

Either the site is slow OR more likely your machine DOES NOT have Java Console (latest, not the s*ity one MicroSoft OS come with). Please just make sure that the file is downloaded, no Power outage, No taking the Phone OFF the Docking Station till prompted to do so. Forget how long it might take. Just get that file downloaded and maybe it will take 1-2 hour or less or more.. If site is stuck- CLOSE ALL INSTANCES of the browser. Empty Temp Internet files, Cookies etc folder. Make sure Java Console is there.
