P800 D: corrupt disk problem working in card reader?
Hi everyone
I¡¦ve just got a 128MB SONY 128M DUO Memory Stick for my P800
Looking through the posts I¡¦ve tried a few things but still not working ƒ¼
I¡¦ve Formatted the Duo as FAT not FAT32!
Actually I tried both but currently it¡¦s set to FAT!
I¡¦ve also copied the structure from a 16MB card which is working fine in phone and card Reader/Writer!
I¡¦ve also done a disk check on the card and all looks well.
The P8 still comes up with corrupt disk and the 128MB card is not showing when I have the phone on its cradle when selecting Information from the Phone icon!
Any info would be a great help
Thanx in advance

Has the MS card EVER worked?
Was it brand new?

Hi Jon
As my post said it works fine in the Reader/Writer I formatted it OK, copied files without any problems.
When its in the phone it comes up as D: and Disk corrupt when I try to Format in the phone!
If the P8 couldn't see the card at all then it wouldn't give the D: option when trying to Format!
It’s a new card and new card Reader/Writer!
Any ideas? Or I just might tie it to a firework and launch it to new heights!
Cheers

Did you eject it before removing it from the card reader?... if not it probably got currupted this way.

So you’re saying corruption is affecting P8 but not using it in card Read/Writer?
Ejecting! I’ve not heard you had to do that before with a Duo?
My card Read/Writer is Hot-swap so would that mean this statement is wrong!?
I didn’t eject!
By the way. I got the Duo before the card Read/Writer! And the P8 was saying Corrupt disk D: etc..etc… before the Duo got anywhere near the Read/Writer!!
So how can I fix this problem kk.226 or anyone plzzz?

Ok basically i had the same problem... but with my digital camera and a memory card. what the sales person in jessops said to me was somthing along the lines of.
"If you dont eject the card first in the card reader, then it will most likely get corrupt if just pulled out... And there will be a surge of electricity to the memory card, causing the meory card to only be read at this voltave. As the voltage from the comp & cam are different, (cam is lower) it will only be read by the computer. So it will appear perfect in the card reader in the comp. But will be currupt to use in the camera."
To eject the mem card... Do this
Start>My Comp Locate the mem card *right click* "Eject"
Now its safley removed

...now you can pull it out...

Yeah I can understand how ejecting is safer but what about Hot-Swap!!
Then surly no card reader could be advertised as Hot-Swap right?
So are you saying memory cards have to be inserted into Reader/Writers before plugging in the Reader/Writer to the USB on your PC?
My P8 said the card was corrupt when I put it in the phone the 1st time. This was before the card was put in the Reader/Writer.
I’m sure of this because I purchased both new but I got the card before the Reader/Writer!!
I’ve also pulled out my 16MB card about 6 times without Ejecting! It’s still kicking! So I don’t think the 128MB card is damaged as I can Read and Write from it/to it!
I’m keeping my fingers crossed it the File Structure that’s causing the problem!
Can anyone send me a file structure from a working Sony 128MB Duo?
Or should a copy from my 16MB do the job as well?
Can this corruption be fixed or not?
Any 3rd party progs out there that can check memory cards for corruption using your PC?
Cheers

Have the exact same problem with my P900 and MS Duo 128. It works fine in a pc card reader and says disk currupt in my P900. Phone works fine with another card (a standard 32mb). Does anyone got any ideas how to fix this ?

The problem I had looked like the card but it wasn't as far as I can tell.
I now have P910 and that same card worked 1st time!
If you can test your P900 with another 128mb Duo that you know works in another phone and it still doesn't work that should then point to the phone being the problem!
I'm not sure what the specification of the P900 is but I would think it should work with a 128 card ok!
I know the P910 can use up to a 1gb card.
You might want to check for Firmware upgrades on the P900 and do a search on here and see what you find! That might fix the problem but Back Up first!!
hope that helps some!
good luck...

That entire sentence suggests your 128mb ms duo is actually a 128mb ms duo pro.
