I am a convert.

Esato has converted me from a nokia fan to a guy very much interested in SE.

As such, i am going to make my first sony ericsson purchase, the k750i.

I need you guys help to make a kind of checklist which will be of help at the dealer's. Checklist not in the sense of the accessories to be checked, but, a problem checklist. There are many members here that have reported various complaints/glitch when they purchased their k750i. Since its going to be my first association with SE, i dont want it to be sour. So, please, guys if you could just tell me certain things that i should check for in the phone before i hand over my cash across the counter.

Hope my first association with SE turns out to be a life long and cherished one.

one thing i have heard a few complaints about is the bettery cover. make sure it comes off. some say theirs is too tight, and some say too lose, so i would check that.

I always thought you were a smart dude. You dont need a checklist he you btw from an authorized dealer. Firmware can be updated at home. Welcome to world.

Most of them come with R1N which is the latest. The few which dont come wit R1L002, which is the last stable firmware, considering that the latest firmware aint exactly stable yet, as per posts by users out here. Either ways, its a lot easier to update an se phone than noks. But be sure to get your phone with a bill and warranty.

@blue - So this will be your first fone if ever I thought all along that you already own a W800i (avatar) mate . . . If your horizon in choosing will be widened a bit, might as well get the W8, though I manage to own a K750i (for a month), I can honestly say that it's a NICE one after coming from a K700i which has bugs and a poor battery life. This is what I've made notice with my K750i then. When I was transferring some contacts (phonebook) from my Nokia fone to my K750i via Infra Red, after around 20 transfers the screen of the K750i went blank white then the fone restarts I assumed then that the bugs issue with the K700i was inherited by the K750i too, or there's a little improvement done. I have not upgraded the firmware of the unit, still the stock one! Good Luck . . .

it's hard to say about the r1n bugs, since probably only peeps with problems have posted. Only a couple like Arez and Masseur have reported that they have no bugs with R1N. There may be a lot more who haven't bothered to post because peeps post more about something if it pisses them than if it doesn't

I highly recommend the K750, however I'd try and get a unit with R1L firmware. If you can't find one and are forced onto R1N, you may be okay. Besides the usb bug, most R1N problems relate to the update service failing to correctly install the firmware (dead camera and the like), which won't affect you if it already has R1N.

I doubt they are still supplying R1N if it means every phone with R1N will have probs with usb transfers. If you are unlucky and get one that does have probs, take it back to the service centre and get R1L put on or demand your money back. They should be prepared to put R1L on for free, since R1N won't be performing as advertised.

But if it was me, I'd be trying to find an R1L phone just to avoid any possible hassle, then update via SEUS once the firmware is all sorted out.

The creaking noise is a personal perspective. I don't find it that annoying, though it is there. With a leather case on the phone, the creaking disappears. Some peeps have found a bit of thin cardboard under the batt cover stops the worst creaks. Note: this also makes it harder to remove the batt cover when needed.

I an on R1L and have faced zero bugs upto now. Maybe you should get one on the same and update it later. Trust me, this is a fantastic phone. This message was posted from a K750

If you don't find any bugs, then I wouldn't suggest upgrading, but that's just me.

The K750i is a great phone in its class. Don't worry too much about having a checklist, just make sure you have warranty so you can have it replaced if you later find any faults.
