you could use "mpegable x4 live" it comes with a video converter as well as the video player.

You could try nero recode which comes with nero 6 reloaded or nero 7.
Spawn wrote a tutorial for using this.

IMTOO is probably one of the easiest to set up.. but NERO recode, from my experience, has the best/optimal results.
check that link right above, spawn wrote up a great "how-to" for nero recode
