When I put my 512Mb memory stick in my phone, it tells me drive D is corrupt. I formatted it using a Card Reader prior to trying to put a back up of TomTom Mobile on.
I can't format it on the phone - again because it just tells me it is corrupt.
Any ideas please?

Kingston as far as I can remember. It was fine before because I had the program Co-Pilot on it. All I did was to format it in my PC using the cardreader.

The problem could be with the cheaper components used in some of the lesser known memory sticks available on the market, As they have a higher tendency to fail, than say the likes of Sony, Sandisk or Lexar, Unless i an very mistaken.

Kingston are quite a good make though and it's only a couple of months old, at the best.
I have heard that if it could be formatted in the phone, rather than in a PC, it will make it readable. Trouble is I don't get the chance as I am told it is corrupt as soon as it is inserted in the card slot.
Thanks for your thoughts though.

Yes, Kingston are a very good make. When you formatted it, did you format it to NTFS or FAT32? If you formatted to NTFS, that could be the problem.
Failing that, you could try removing the partition using Windows XP's disk management console (start, control panel, administrative tools, computer management, disk management), make a new partiton and then pop the card back into your phone and format it there.

As far as I know, the default was FAT32 but I will check when I go home. And I will try what you said as well about partitioning.
It's such a pain with it being only a couple of months old.
Thanks for your input

Thanks, Cycovision, did exactly as you suggested and now have a TomTom backup on the card.
