It's on o2 as I've moved from orange and it seems a little sluggish opening apps compared with my now deceased trusted P900 (on orange). Was wondering whether it's the o2 stuff that has been preloaded on to it and whether a master reset would get rid of this? Should I just leave it as it is? Any advice greatfully received.

Cheers

Welcome to Esato

O2 are actually one of the better providers when it comes to branding, so I think it's unlikely to be O2 Stuff that's causing the slowness. A Master reset does not remove preinstalled operator stuff so it's unlikely to make a difference. However, if there's nothing on your phone that you desperately need or if you've backed it all up, you might as well give it a go, it shouldn't do any harm.

If you haven't already got it, I would recommend that you install sman:

If you set it to 'flip closed flush' mode, it'll automatically close all open applications whenever you close the flip. This is most likely to be the cause of the slowness, too many apps open all at the same time.

Cheers for the quick reply and welcome Cycovision.

Having flitted between windows mobile devices (various SPVs) and symbians and having not used a P900 for about 6 months it'll probably take some getting used to again.

I'm thinking it was just me opening all the apps I have and not ending them properly might well have been the problem. Sman seems to do the job on that front.

Onwards and upwards.

Just need to find my monkey island cd now and I'll be happy

Yeah, it's typically background tasks which cause slowdown. Anyway mate, hope you enjoy your nice new purchase

I set mine to flip closed flush. Now when I close the flip(Virtual flip) it is fine, but when I return to flip open my screen goes white for about 10 secs and it slowly loads the items on my screen...very slowly???Any reason for that?

you probably are flushing everything, even the required system processes.

I, for example, have the following in my SMan snapshot:
1. Flipkeypad
2. SMan
3. EiksrvBackdrop
4. Desktop
5. Applications
6. Messages
7. Beamer
8. PhoneSecure
9. Appicker

Items 8 and 6 are installed applications, but I'm afraid you must NOT flush the others, i.e. they must be included in the snapshot (4 included since it's the SE Desktop and it's the first thing the P9xx loads when opening the flip).

Buddy, there may be a more strait forward explanation to your observation. If you've used the S60 for a while (as you mention something in that direction),than you got used to 'instantaneous' reaction time.I have played with a 6630 in one hand and a P910i in the other.I refrain making any further comments to minimize the stomach ulcers ;-) This message was posted from a Nokia 7650
