I've never heard it's any faster than the original browser I'm afraid! Could be wrong. What problems have u had with the preinstalled one? If u're not getting on with it it might be worth the change.

You can try opera proxy for free, I did but it didn't improve the speed anything

It should speed up large and bloated HTML files, and by recompressing GIF and JPG images you will get pictures faster (with a compromise on quality that some may not like).
It certainly does work as you're downloading less data. The only reason you might not notice much of a difference is if you're using an APN that does the same thing. Many operators will do this by default.

well im guessig how you would be able to tell, that in opera if you see proxy disabled i guess it isnt being optimized , any one have the proxy booster and care to share the proxy settings lol

If you have a hosted unix/linux box somewhere and some knowledge, you can install the same thing as the Opera proxy for free.
http://www.khelekore.org/rabbit/
Requires a bit of knowledge to setup and you need to have a unix/linux box connected to the 'net to use it.

Well I set it up myself and noticed it was a little faster.
You're right though, the 30 mins or so it took me to set it up didn't really make any major difference, prehaps a page would load in 5 seconds instead of 8.
I posted more for those people that HAVE TO HAVE IT the fastest. You know the people I mean!

werd, i want the fasted performance , but might just bite the bullet and get it ...ignorance is bliss i guess. I still dont get why i have issues reviewing some java and flash on my browser. And waiting for oppera 8 seems like a lifetime.
