> P910i can i increase ring duration?
Bookmark topic
Hello all,
What a kewl find this forum was.
I acquired my NEW P 910i by a stroke of good fortune.Have managed to get going pretty well.
Luv it!Luv it! Luv it!
PC integration has been faultless.(Unlike the Nokia 7610 i dumped)
Performed online upgrade....no problem...done charge/discharge battery, added SE Desktop(a beaut!)and am considering adding SMan.(concerned that it will spoil the appearance and be impossible to uninstall?)
NOW...this may be a stupid question but i need to know how to extend the ring duration....just can't find the setting(have disabled "increasing ring" and set volume to max in "sounds and alerts)....does it exist...is there a workaround?I am a bit slow answering the phone when in its pouch and i would like to get it to ring for a longer period.
Please excuse the long post.
regards
wannabe.

welcome!
I don't think you can on the phone. the phone sets the number the phone diverts to when not answered, but I thnk your service operator will set the amount of time (or number of rings) before the answermachine gets it. give them a call.

i did have s-man, but i use handy day and handy explorer at the moment. it's no reflection on s-man, in fact it's very good, but HD does the same things, so why waste disk space!?

SMan is rock solid. If you don't want to pay for Handyday then I suggest you install SMan instead. It's free and is a great "power user" tool.
It uninstalls fine too, though once you've installed it I don't think you'll want to uninstall!

Hi AlreadyGeek- Welcome to Esato (about which You are true).. I think the phone rings for 30 seconds -atleast- around here. Could you put a loud Ogg Vorbis (or MP3) as the tone.. Muppet & Pikey are correct. Sman IS quiet a bit of an App. & uninstal.able. download at sman.gotdns.com (Ajack is hosting it via Mattia's machman.gotdns.com).. While I also found TaskSpy (PushL.com) simple & Good Functionality.. Some apps like AppForge Booster with many components take time to uninstall, but even THAT can be done

You can't set a ogg file as a ringtone (unless there's some system hack I don't know about?)

thanks, muppet, sailaab and pikey...food for thought here.
will play around with ringtones and volumes on the PC as well.
the ring issue isn't to great a trainsmash as the rest of the phone is just a complete treat.
found an XP theme somewhere(bookmarked the site) for when i start to tire of my themes....but i doubt that will be to soon...lol.
am going to install Sman now....will probably help with my battery life...but then again i have barely put the phone down for three days since i got it...lol and that can't be helping the battery life....lollol.
Thanks again...will check back some more.Geek.

Thanks pikey, i contacted my service provider and they gave me a string/code which increased the ring duration from 20 to 30 seconds.(the max)
wonder why they set it at all?
