> is there new firmware / update for the w550i?

See Subject.
so i went to sonyericsson.com/support and tried to find the update services for the w550 but it kept giving me desktop software. its not showing any update services or anything similar. is it too new and they just havent put it up ?

no i havent .... i am just hoping they'd improve the cam application

it'd be a better idea to upgrade ur firmware using the settings in the phone. go to settings in the main menu, and there's an option to do an over-the-air option (ota) to upgrade. it will be present on all new sony phones. cheers. hope that helps.

ah. wish taht would work. only issue is the network i am on in the city i am in has No GPRS. can it connect via my bluetooth using my ibook? or the usb cable perhaps?

So far no problems in my W550i yet as well. But like you, I hope a new firmware would improve the camera's quality...
