Hi all, bin watching this forum with great frenzy past few weeks as i became a proud owner of a slightly battered p900 several weeks ago. Made the move up to P900 after the screen on my p800 broke into a million pieces after droppingit onto some pretty solid stones.

Anyway onto my post. My p900 keypad is beginning to spin me out, when I recieved the phone from ebay the dark plastic surround of the screen was damaged right where the keypad makes contact with it, it appears that it as become worn with either excessiv use or force. Now i don't know if this is the cause of my problem or not but the actual fault I have with the phone comes from when I try to press the menu on the keypad. It very rarley works as a menu button, say im in sms and i want 2 send the msg, press menu and it puts in either a p, t or w and then randomly it works as a menu button and throws out the menu button. Ive been into the service menu and tested the buttons and this happens in the test as well. The problem is gettin worse aswell.

What I want 2 know is

1. is the keypad independant of the touch screen?

2. Is it possible to replace the keypad?

I dont want 2 remove it as i like to use it for txting but id like to know how easy it is 2 replace and if anyone else knows of the problem.

Apologies for the terrible grammar Im in a rush and cant proof read it as i gotta b in college in 15 mins

Thanks
Barry Mc

Hi Barry- Congrats on your Good choice. Sorry to hear that its got some issues. Ans 1# Yes... Ans 2# Yes.. It would be better to let some Professional do the replacement though... This message was posted from a S700

The P900 keypad is independant of the touch screen, and you can find replacements, try Excell Direct they are £10.

However, it might be worth removing the key pad and cleaning the connectors on the phone and the keypad.

Also, you wouldn't need a professional as the keypad is designed to be removed by the user which is why you get a screwdriver in the box when buying it, its very simple.

Hope this helps.
