> How often do you make master resets?
Bookmark topic
Firstly: Is it correct when I have heard that when you make a master reset everything is changed back on your mobile just as when you bought it?
Secondly: I always install apps and store new things on my memorystick - besides a few photos and themes.
If the phone started to act weardly, using more battery, not showing that there's a new sms etc, could I then just make a master reset and then use all of my programs on my memorystick as if I never had made the master reset? (or would I have to reinstall all of them again...?
(edit: whould it have a possitive effect to do a master reset - if I just put back the memorystick without reinstalling the programs again?)

to make master reset very often isnt that welcome, it can badly influence the fw.

How can resetting the filesystem do bad things to the Firmware? Do you have any evidence of this?
I've had my P910 for nearly a year and I've never once Master Reset it. Sometimes if it gets really slow I'll reboot it, but just recently I had an uptime of 30 days and it was still trucking along fine. I also add and remove *a lot* of software for it. This builds up cruft on the FileSystem but if you know what you're doing you can delete most of it.
Some people swear by it, but I don't see the point of all that hassle just so my messages app might open half a second quicker.

Well with my P910i I perform a master reset, (I know a lot of you are going to moan and say why do this etc.), once every two/three months. Not quite sure why but I do notice the loading times of everything to be faster, but programs do need to be reinstalled to get the registry settings.
I have just finished a master reset and full installation of my programs today, overall it took me an hour or so to completely back-up everything like sms messages and documents and then wipe it all away and start from stratch.
So now I have installed my 'most used' programs, as half of the ones I seem to build up I either rarely or never use anyway. At the moment I have my top 15 apps/games on it and thats the way it will stay for the time being.
Personally I have never experienced any problems with performing master resets on my phone every couple of months. Also I like that feeling of a 'new' phone and starting from stratch setting up all the settings to how I need them.
Most likely just down to personal opinions and tastes about how often you use this function of the phone, but lets face it, its a function of the phone isn't it?! If it caused major damage then

would have never put it there in the first place. If its there, then you may as well use it when you feel its needed!

just like format and reinstall a computer
My reinstall of computer takes about 8 hours. I like to have everything I might need for imaging, web development, encoding/decoding, security, internet, phone software, specific hardware driver and apps and on and on.
I rarely need to reinstall so when I do I might as well do a full reinstall from scratch, it get's rid of the registry chuff that slow's things down a bit.
But a phone's different. It's shit easy to do over. No harm at all. Okay, maybe if you do it 10 times a day it might start to cause some wear and tear

But when all the programs are installed on the memorystick - how can it then be nesessary to make registration again?
I thought that I just could remove my memorystick, make a master reset, and then put back the memorystick with all my programs and everything would be back to normal?¿?

I agree. Why bother doing Master Reset when there's no need (no problem) ? I have never did it, but I think I will do it in near future because I think I have a problem with my P900.
The jog-dial of my P900 do not respond for the backward & inward directions when I remove the flip.
Anyone knows if a MasterReset would be the solution to my problem?
Thanks in advance.

Who says I don't have any problems with my P900...?¿?
Therefore again: Should there be any problems using the programs on my memorystick after I do a master reset or will I have to reinstall all of my programs again...?¿?
