I arrived in Europe from Azerbaijan about two months ago and I brought about 15 phones with me to sell here and earn myself a little extra cash. A few days ago I had four left and had just sold one when a guy saw it and said wow, why didn't you tell me you had these phones, I could sell them for you immediately!
He started discussing prices and stuff and my friend said he knew him, so we went to his place. He took us to a large appartment building and we went to the eleventh floor. He had the four phones, but I kept the batteries and boxes... He told us to wait and knocked on a door two metres away from us and then went in. He said that the guys wife and kids were sleeping so we should wait outside...
We figured that seeing he was inside he wouldn't be able to leave without us seeing.... After waiting for about ten minutes, I thought to knock on the door and tell him to hurry up.... When I knocked the door, I saw it move, I pushed it and it was the staircase EXIT!!!!
The little shit had ran down the stairs with a Nokia 8250, Nokia 8855, SonyEricsson T68i and a Motorola V70...
We didn't know what to do, the guy then phoned my friend and said that he wanted the boxes and batteries... I told him to tell him where to go.... But then he started threatening my friend and telling him he'd kill his mum etc...
The guy is wanted by the police and all our friends say to let it be... cos the guy is crazy....
I went to get the phones traced and blocked and it's only the network that blocks the phone (so you would have to go to evey network in the world to make sure he doesn't use it) and the police CAN trace it but won't.....
In Azerbaijan, if your phone was stolen you usually had it back within three months.... Here, EUROPE, you can't get it back....
I'm pissed off!

Don't blame you at all.... I have had two phones stolen here in London (Nokia 8890 and Nokia 6210) reported both to police straight away but nothing done and I know for a fact that I will never see those again in my life.

if you first report it to the police.... make sure you get papers on it with the phones IMEI numbers... if you then contact a network provider they will blacklist the phones IMEI numbers in the EIR database... meaning they are blocked and can't be used in any GSM network in the world (at least not with those IMEI numbers)

I plan on heading for Europe in a few days and that story just reminds me of the poor clever assholes over there (Especially some of the girls). Also reminds me of the very poor law enforcement in Europe.
At least here in Southern California, you can mostly hunt them down very easily unless they go up North or to another state...

Well I've never managed to have my mobile stolen! i dont see how everyone else seems to do so!!
But still on my T68 i have the security code on, so no other sim card can be used in it without the special security code, so it will be useless to anyone who steals it

Where do you do this setting? In the settings option, there is SIM Lock as one of the choices under Locks but Im always paranoid in selecting it, thinking my phone will be locked
LOL I guess thats where you set it?

it should now lock up when you insert another sim card into the phone

havent u guys got insurance on your phones?? I got on mine, costs about 3£ each month and if I loose my phone, I will have new one within 48 hrs, works fine! lost an 8210 once and receieved a new phone in the mail within the week (other type of insurance)
