most likely you have setup your P910 to use the same settings as your pc or mac including the pop3 and smtp settings.
Unfortunately most ISPs only allow use of SMTP server for sending emails if you are actually connected to their service at the time so therefore most phone service providers provide an SMTp server you can use for this purpose
if this sounds like your scenario let us know who you phone service provider is and perhaps we can tell you the correct smtp server to use

sounds like you have hit the nail on the head masseur
am online at the mo(dial-up) and now when i try to send mail from the phone it is quite simply:"access denied"(meaning they think their is now unauthorised use of my mail service i suppose)
my ISP is Telkom (South Africa) and my cellphone service provider is MTN (South Africa)
i had thought it was to do with my outgoing port number(25) so i called my ISP techies and he confirmed that my service provider would have to help me on the "send side" (hence the fact that i am sure you are spot-on) a HUGE thank you for the help.geek

a quick google suggests the SMTP (outgoing) server you need is mail.mtn.co.za
good luck!

did you get this working? I've done a couple more searches and still only come up with mail.mtn.co.za as the smtp server name

Yes thank you squire....see post above...e-mail and internet (SE browser and Opera) are working to perfection.Your advice paid off.
It is a real treat to surf and e-mail when you are used to really tiresome dialup(which i am on at present-and which is killing me due to a new spate of disconnections! Telkom due to come in on Mon or Tues)
BUT now i have an enormous issue with the sync function which i will post in the main forum.Hope you or one of the other boffins will be able to help....i have "hit the wall" on this one.
