> P800 or IPAQ 3970 ?

Can't make up my mind whether to get the P800 or the plain PDA IPAQ 3970.
I currently own the T68i, and I don't plan to sell this before the succesor to T68i comes around.
I would like to get a PDA for more serious PDA functions than T68i can handle - but at the same time I realise that I probably won't carry this with me as much as I will with the T68i because of the extra added weight and size.
Therefor I consider purchasing the P800 (when it comes) instead of the IPAQ. This way I could leave my T68i at home the days when I choose to bring my P800 along, and the other way around.
Does anyone know if it will be possible to edit/read excel spreadsheat og word documents with the P800 ?

I have the iPaq 3975 and once you set it up over Bluetooth it works like a dream. You just have to pair it and then when you need it then it works seamlessly. The great thing is when you don't need the pda part you can just leave it at home. I have the Mphone software and synchronise between the iPaq and the phone. The only problem is that I still want the P800 as it looks so cool. Get both!

Just getting the P800 should be enough. If you already have T68i, then I would guess that those two devices would communicate much better than a 3975 and a T68i.

If you don't plan to sell your T68i and keep it, then I think going for the Compaq IPAQ 3970 would seem like a wise move. Just hook both of them up with bluetooth and have fun

If something is wrong with it Compaq will give you a new one or will repair it very good. The 3970 iPAQ can do so much more.
The games are very nice and you can overlook almost very file (Word, Excel, even PowerPoint or Flash).

im not saing that p800 isent gonna be good but the thimes i dont need the pocket pc let say when i go partiing or smth like that i just take the phone wich is small and easy in ure pocket i cant see the same with p800 witch is much more heavier and a bit bigger than the t68i i found qa great combo for me in those 2 devices and i can say with ease i cn recomend it to anyone
just my 2 cents

there is some software from brainboxes.com that may be able to add bluetooth headset functionality to Ipaq. The only difference then would be the camera and speakerphone...after you get the GSM sleeve

Thanks a lot for all your replies - you've all been very helpful.
The thing is that I kind of like the idea of getting an extra phone in a PDA - because I will be able to bring only one device with me during the workdays - and then in the weekends and in my spare time, I will carry my T68i with me - and the P800 would be asleep in my inner pocket at home
I currently have 2 sim cards connected to the same phone number - so two mobile phones would suit me just fine
I must say that I'm very much geared towards the P800 and skipping the idea of the IPAQ 3970 - although the IPAQ is with no doubt one hell of a machine - and nice looking too.
It's no problem if I'll have to wait until the end of the year to get my hands on the P800.
But thanks again for all the advice

It will also introduce new smartphone devices to follow its recently introduced Jornada 928, but all future models will be sold under the iPaq brand.
Neil Dagger, HP's UK business manager for iPaq and wireless devices, told IT Week that most of the new products would be available in 2003, but that a device with integrated 802.11b WLAN capability was likely to ship in the final quarter of this year. He said the devices "wouldn't be part of the current H3800 or 3900 iPaq series".
In the run-up to HP's merger with Compaq, there was some uncertainty about which devices would survive the rationalisation of the two product ranges. Compaq's iPaq brand proved the stronger, and most of HP's Jornada range was discontinued, except for the Jornada 928 wireless handheld and the keyboard-based Jornada 728, which will now be the last of the brand.
HP's Jornada 928
"There will be no more Jornadas after the 928," Dagger said. Instead, all future handhelds from the start of 2003 will be known as HP iPaqs, while models to follow the Jornada 928 will be known as iPaq Phones. The 728 would also probably be the last keyboard-based model unless demand grows for such devices, Dagger added.

.......................... Therefore i'd just wait for the new range.
Purchase one of these new IPAQs to use with your T68i via Bluetooth and it also seems to work flawlessly. Together these two devices would out perform the P800 in terms of functionality, but the p800 would be good for convience as you will only have to carry one device around.
