Just discovered this software and it looks like it would be very useful. It allows you to take control of your PC via your mobile phone and its GPRS connection. I have seen plenty of positive feedback, but am struggling to get it working myself, I keep getting a 'connection error' message. Can anyone help?
I have installed the software on my phone and PC. I have configured the phone with my server (IP address), username and password, and ensured it connects using a GPRS profile. The FAQ on the site says
When I try connecting to the Test server, I get "Connection error"
Most likely that GPRS settings on your mobile phone is not applicable for Java applications. Probably you are using the application with a WAP access point instead of a GPRS Internet access point. Please try the following to resolve the issue:
* Some SonyEricsson phones: Java applications all use the first configured APN. This APN should be a Internet access point, not a WAP or MMS APN. Each APN has a unique identifier known as a CID, where the CID can be found by selecting "Connectivity" - "Data comm" - "Data accounts" - "{APN Name}".
Java applications will always connect through CID=1, so if the current APN associated with CID=1 is not a GPRS/Internet access point, simply create a new APN, copy the APN settings from the APN associated with CID=1 and then copy your GPRS/Internet settings to the APN associated with CID=1.
Then, you need an active "WAP profile" that connects using the Internet access point associated with CID=1. Use "Connectivity" - "Wap options" - "WAP profiles" and either create a new profile or edit an existing one. In "Connect using", select your newly-configured data account. Finally, back in the "WAP profiles" menu, check that this is the currently selected WAP profile.
I have removed all my extra data accounts, so I now only have one on the phone. Regular internet access and Opera Mini are fine. My K750i phone is contract on 02.
The software is available from

Am not sure if tis quiet the same thing as what I fiddled with once, yet- Did you try the Test thingy ? Setting up a NEW ADDRESS- zzzmobiles.com with User "test" and no password. Maybe you can try that with their demo servers if you have n't yet.. I see little reason with O2 connections being a problem.. Are you sure you putting the rite info for your comp? Just post it here.. We all can try accessing your Comp ;) HaHa.. if you find something amiss, thats a confirmation that it worked *wicked*

Yeah, as I said I get the same issue with their test server also. Does anyone reading this use this software?

I've had a response from the software company and they weren't able to offer any additional advice. The fact that Opera Mini works they tell me, means that I'm using a valid data account. They suggested I re-install the phone software, but that gave me the same error. They also confirmed other K750i users work OK.
Shame, because it looks like a useful piece of software. If anyone has the chance to try the software for themselves, I'd appreciate hearing about your results - especially if you are with 02.
Cheers,
Lee

Thanks for the response. I personally think the site and the software are valid. I've tried a few things but am still having problems. Thought it might have been a DNS issue but I've entered the 02 DNS address into my GPRS data account, and also tried connecting directly via IP address but still no luck. I'm just hoping another 02 user will try it and see if they get the same issue.

The proggie works like a charm. Been using it for quite a while, gives no problems at all, does what it claims to be able to do. Just enter your current IP address correctly (you can use some free DNS service to have a constant address) and open port 6100 on your comp if you are behind a router.

Hi guakamole,
Can you confirm what GSM operator you use? I suspect my issue might be related to 02 not allowing access. Although, everything else seems fine..

leerichards,
First was using it on T-mobile in the States; at the moment I'm in Moscow, Russia, Beeline being the local GSM operator, in either case everything works just fine.
