> New big GSM company in the USA?
Bookmark topic
As I looked from GSM Association web site, there seems to be a new big GSM company in the USA - Western Wireless Corporation.
It is covering mainly the central part of the USA, where the main "doers" (AT&T, Cingular and T-Mobile) have a poor coverage or have no coverage at all.

Also it is interesting that Western Wireless Corporation has been working only for three years (from september 2003), but it already has such a wide coverage.
Any comments from the GSM-users in the US are welcome.

It will be nice to have another wireless competitor it will make the service better and more affordable, and widen the coverage area,
T-Mobile for example!
The rapid growth of
Western Wireless coverage is because of the
merger with Alltel and
sales of certain Cingular Assets
Hopefully Western Wireless/Alltel will extend their coverage not only the Central part of USA.

Here in Oklahoma Alltell isn't using GSM, but CDMA. I was on AT&T and when Alltel bought them out, i got a letter in the mail telling me that i need to switch out my phone because it wouldn't work on the Alltel network (I had an unlocked k700i)
