hi. i just want to know how much is the P910i flip in your country. i'm from manila, philippines and i asked an authorized sony ericsson service center (semicon) and they told me that it costs almost PHP5,000 (approx USD92 or EUR78)! is it really this expensive in your country? i accidentally dropped my phone yesterday and it had a nasty, deep scratch on the right side of the quickshare sticker. i got a little worried 'coz i dropped it pretty hard on the pavement. P910i's are tough phones right?

for all those from manila, philipipnes, can anyone suggest where i can buy cheaper P910i flips/keypads and how much? i haven't asked smartnet or the sony ericcson concept stores. thanks.

have you ever taken the flip off? the phone is a lot nicer to use, and fits in a pocket better without the flip.

Take it off and give it a week, if you still feel you need the flip then start to look for one. But i think you find once you get your head around writing messages with the stylus you'll love the phone even more.

thanks for the replies. anybody from manila can tell me where to get cheaper P910i flip/keypad? the price i got from semicon is way too high.

nesbitt_bub1:
thanks for your suggestion. i think i will give that a try. the keypad is actually quite bulky because of the QWERTY keyboard on the other side. i'm still not quite an expert on composing text messages using the stylus. the reason i got the P910i over other PDA's out there is because of the keypad. without the keypad/flip then you need both hands to compose a text message as opposed to using only one hand with the flip. anyway i think i would still give it a try.

I generally go for on-screen keyboard over the handwriting, but see which you prefer. Zi corp do some good apps (eZiTap and Decuma) which are good for improving speed with keyboard and handwriting (respectively):

Zi corp
eZiTap
Decuma

Use the virtual flip -- and your fingers rather than the stylus. One-handed texting without the physical flip is then possible!

I find the 'keys' on the virtual flip far too fiddly for fingers! Wish it was possible to use larger buttons (such as those on the keypad in the phone app) to do texting etc.

Pop-on-top keyboard, offers a choice of layouts, including ones with nice big finger-friendly buttons, but also has some bugs/annoyances that have never been fixed.

One more thing. Use without flip (especially if fingers are employed) necessitates a screen protector!

Anyway, I guess this is all getting a bit off-topic now...

It's a problem with the flip. You can attempt to clean the connectors and the internals (there's a thread elsewhere about that), but at risk of damage. Other than that, a replacement flip is necessary.
