I've been trying the past few days to check my email using a POP account. I can check it through WAP using GPRS. That's no problem. I want to be able to send mail so I can send my mca-20 pictures to my computer. I've searched the board and found a post stating step by step how to set up a GSM account. I signed up with myrealbox.com. I use the Voicestream Toll free number. When I try to connect it'll dial for a second then it says failed then cannot connect to server. I've tried numerous times but can't get through. Please tell me what I may be missing or another way to send POP email so I can send pics. Thanks

Can you use wap with gsm? You have to be able to this before you can use email. This post was posted from a T68i

To use GSM wap, you need to have
1. A GSM data account
2. A GSM wap profile

I've posted instructions on how to do this. Basically, VoiceStream GSM data is not very reliable, so it can be hard to determine if it's your fault or theirs when you get a "failed" message. I still get "failed" 1 time in 5 when I use GSM data account for anything. If it says failed after "verifying", then you either haven't set dial type to ISDN or their GSM server is messing up. I end up just repeatedly trying to connect sometimes and get a string of "failed" attempts at 3 seconds.

I looked through all your old post. I saw the on you talked about setting up wap browsing through GSM. I couldn't connect to the internet that way. It goes from Finding server...calling...failed..then cannot connect to server. All that happens really fast. Do you think the fact that I have an unlocked t68i bought off ebay is the reason? I've followed the instructions step by step but I always get the same message. Do you think if I call t-mobile they can help me? It's not an authorized VS/t-mobile phone but I could just tell them it was a t68 not t68i.

Someone else was having your exact same problem. I answered their questions either here or at forum.semuser.com or at howardforums.com. Just do a search for my author name.

Basically, I told you to use wap first because wap and email both need a working data account. Wap has a lot fewer settings to enter incorrectly, so it is much more easy to tell if the underlying data account is working.

It sounds like your gsm data account is not set up properly. I would guess that your dial type is set to analog (rather than isdn) or you don't have gsm data provisioned on your t-mobile account (call data services to fix this).

Excuse the terseness of my message but it's just that I have answered this question about 10 times before. The answers are in the forum, just try to dig them out!

Ignore european forum posters who tell you to go to the sonyericsson web site to get the configurations sent to you via SMS. This service is not offered for those in the good ol' USA.
