heyy. okay me and my girlfriend were dating for 13 months...broke up for 4...and saw other people. now were back together and we don't know how to count it. do we start back at 1 month???? or go on to the 14th month? we talked and didn't know what to do, so im asking you all so, what do you all think?? ask questions if you want. thanksssss

p.s. i know most of u hate these kind of threads... so...sorrrrry...just need opinions

four months is probably too long to count it as one stint anyway, especially since you both saw other people. you could always say "we've been together on and off for x months/years".

I'm in the same situation with my lady, we've broken up a couple of times, the longest being 3 months out of the 3 years I've known her.

We both still say we've been together for 3 years though.

agree. After all, it's just a break really. If you are at work all day you tell everyone it's an 8 hour day, even if you don't get paid for lunch and it's only a seven hour workday.

Unless the time you are on a break for is equal to the previous total time you have had together, then you count it inclusive. If the total time you have been together is less than the length of the break period when you get back together, then you would say "together on and off". If there is more than a year between this time and the last time you were together, then you start counting from scratch.
