Hello I have a K700i.
I would like to know if there is a java application that allows me to play mp3 and/or wma files that are stored on a website or web server or stored on my PCs hard drive.
Thankyou.

no
K700 cannot play wma files, only mp3/mp4(aac).
and gprs are not fast enough for mp3 webstreaming unless its at a very low bitrate/quality.
and atleast with the gprs rates in my country it would be insanely expensive if it could.
Or were you thinking of using Bluetooth to play mp3's stored on your computer ?

Is it then possible through bluetooth to play music files stored on my computer. It doesn't have to be wma, mp3 is fine. If there is a java application for PC remote desktop on your phone then surely there has to be a program to play mp3 files. Is there?
Thanks.

neither music nor videostreaming can be done at GPRS speed in any quality Id like to waste my time or money on. But each to his own
I prefer to use the onboard free radio, or onboard stored mp4/mp3 if I want to listen to music.
As for a java app that can stream mp3 from computer over bluetooth.
Well Ive never heard of anyone.

That's all they say: it's not cheap, it's slow, and so on, though you've asked, if there are sites from where you can listen music. So what it's not cheap, so what it's not fast enough? Do I have one post more? ( the inner devil asked me

It's possible to connect to your local webserver via BT, USB or IR:

Then it's easy to stream mpeg4 video with a max bitrate 120kbs.

Interesting, will have to try that some time.
For example with windows media encoder and a Hauppauge SAT or TV card. Hmm...

Hmm. That's interesting.
Thanks.
But what program do I use to browse the server? I used opera mini through bluetooth and when I tried to play an mp3 file it said 'File Not Found'

Well, it will be a modified sample from the SE devsite.
Yesterday eve I started installing the SE SDK and got the connection proxy and device explorer to work. Next step is to compile the relevant sample MIDlet and to install them with device explorer. Finally it would be nice to get an open source rtsp server to work on XP or Linux. I believe Windows Media Server for Win2K or Win2k3 also supports rtsp. Finally if I'm not mistaken it is possible to do live streaming from windows media encoder. However, the required mpeg4 codec may not be supported by windows media encoder.
Hopefully others will throw some solutions in this thread as well.
