This is SO annoying. I buy a phone that comes :

a) screen protector half off
b) battery cover not on properly
c) infra red plastic film thingy missing, found in box somewhere
d) that creaks very badly. if you press the left button next to joystick, you see the whole front of the phone compressing and then going back up to leave a gap. the frame is completely unsolid.

i ask to return it and they want to charge me a 15% handling fee!!!

No other site does this, that i know of. By law, you must allow someone to return a phone for a full refund or exchange within 28 days (or is it 7? cant remember). So i am literally pondering whether to go down to their offices and cause a fuss. i mean, i know the petrol going down there would be the 15% but i dont care, i like making a fuss.

are they allowed to charge this? i mean, i paid an extra fiver for the next day delivery, so its not as if they paid for the postage!!! in fact, all they had to do was put it in a bag, seal it, and give it to the bloody postman. im really p*ssed off.

well as per the gay return policy here http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/mobilefun/terms-and-conditions.htm, they state that items returned for a refund, when the goods are not faulty will be charged a handling fee of 15%. In my eyes you are returning the item because it is faulty/defective so you should definately not be charged this mate

tell them to shove it up their jacksies. You are entitled to return it, they are just chancing their luck, Get them told!

If the phone is faulty (which it sounds as if it is) then you are within your rights to send the phone back for a refund or replacement. If the phone is not faulty they are well within their rights to charge an administration fee for returning it.
If they are trying to charge you for returning a faulty phone then they are breaking ther law and you should contact your local trading standards office.
If the phone is on a contract then, by law, you have a 14 day period to return the phone without penalty. All you would have to pay is any airtime/ calls that you used.

Exactly my mum works in customer services herself and that is the law, you are returning a faulty product so therefore should not have to pay a thing, i never have when i have returned things, they either send a pre paid envelope/box or they refund you the postage cost.

You are well within your rights

but they will probably say i caused the damage, when i didnt.

they might not see it as faulty, they might think thats just how the phone is made...

@meths

thats exactly what i would want to do, but i dont know whether i can get to their offices lol

It would appear that mobilefun don't endear themselves to a number people. We had a thread over at SE-NSE on this company and there were a few of people with a less than stellar opinion of them. You can read the thread here.
