I wonder how many people on Esato use their pc/laptop for a good cause ? Does someone close to you have/had cancer or a genetical disorder? Even if you don't understand what's going on, you (actually your computer) can help a lot/LOT ! Let's make a team called ESATO and see who does best. Let us forget who has what phone and who knows more about cells. It will be nice if we ( or some of us) can unite and give the 'big' teams out there a run for their money :-) This message was posted from a Nokia 7650

Ok.I see I have to explain a bit more. F@H is the short for 'Folding at Home'.Now our bodies are made of different organs (hard, lung, brain, bones, skin etc.) Thous organs are made of cells which in turns are made of (organic) chemical molecules. The molecules them-self are made of atoms(Nitrogen,Oxygen,Hydrogen and most important Carbon) Of course there are others too but this 4 are extremly important, because they are directly involved in the multiplication/manufacturing of new molecules/cells/human benigs. This atoms copy our genetic code from one cell to another. This 4atoms connect to each other in long chain molecules which goes thru certain folding procedures until they form the final protein which will build each and everything in your and my body. Now if one know how the folding process happened/takes place, then lots of genetic/wrong folding diseases can be cured. And here can your pc/laptop help while displaying the screen saver.Do a google search for 'folding at home' to learn . This message was posted from a Nokia 7650

Folding at home is the same as Seti at home and a few other projects like this, I used to use one as well for cancer whose name I now forget. :/

Basically distributed computing to help people.

Handy if you have an always on connection and want to do something with your computers idle time.

You don't need a 'always on' connection. The connection time/data is minimal and only about once a week for minute or so.Also your pc can be switched on and off as usual. This message was posted from a Nokia 7650

I did this at one point up until the PC Pro 'Switch IT off' initiative.

It works out that by keeping my computer running 24/7 I was releasing around 5 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, as well as wasting around £100 a year in electricity bills. It's a good idea, but when you consider the environmental impact it just doesn't add up.

Having said that, if the computer is going to be on anyway you may as well.
