hey guys. I'm trying to use my t68i to connect to aol through infared. I set it up and everything is fine. When i press connect on aol it dials the number then it dials that same number on my phone. Then is says connecting on my phone. and after that aol says that the modem couldnt get a connection or sometihng then it tries another number. What could be the problem. Do i need a gprs signal? because it has been down in our area today for a reason. There is a good gsm signal though. I'm new to all this phone stuff so bear with me here. I appreciatte all the help guys. and thanx a lot.

"because it has been down in our area today for a reason."
...when its up, try again.

not used aol myself but it sounds like your settings are fine.
are you using a laptop with the phone acting purely as a modem?

i tried it and still nothing. I am using the phone purely as a modem like u said. It says after it dials that aol was unable to establish a connection and then it tries the next number. I have a toshiba laptop with xp and the phone is acting like a modem. Im using it with infared. Thanx for your help

what is your service provider and in what market(location)?

i myself have AT&T in philadelphia area and am currently unable to dialup to an ISP using my phone. I don't have a precise reason as to why but I've heard many things from different pple and even tech reps that AT&T does not currently support CSD(circuit switching data) on their network or they are blocking it in order to force people to use GPRS. I would take a bet on the latter, since GPRS is really expensive 3 cents / KB without a data plan, so they are probably trying to make some money.

however, with lots of lobbying i'm confident that AT&T will unblock it if that is the case, or eventually switch it on once they implement EDGE ( the third stage in GSM).

that's all i know (^_^)
