I don't know why, but it appears that my master settings reset killed my memory card . When the memory card is inserted the phone can NOT be turned on. It just gets stuck on the first screen displaying the Sony Ericsson logo and never goes any further. When I take the memory card out, it turns on just fine. I tried reading the card with a card reader that I have for my PC using the memory stuck adapter that came with the phone and all the drives from the reader show up empty on the computer.. on the phone I put the memory card in AFTER I turn it on, but it appears if that is done, the card will not be recognized, which basically means I can't use my card on the phone in any way. I'd like to use it in the phone so I could format it.. but I can't.

Is there a sure way to find out if the card is dead? How expensive are those things?

A 512MB card would cost you about US $50 ~ $60. However Sandisk cards are covered with a 5Year warranty or something like that, so you should be able to get it replaced for free. Just return it to the place you bought it.

Before returning, try formatting it with the PC. I’ve read some complaints like yours with W800 in this forum before. Do a search and see…
