Many of you must of read about in todays papers of Maya Anne Evans who's only crime was to read out the names of the 97 British soldiers who had died in Iraq. But under the pathetic new terror laws to do so within a kilometre of Westminster is a criminal offence.so she was convicted of breaching the new rule which bans demonstrations close to Parliament a fellow campaigner who read out the names of dead Iraqi citizens was also arrested..Maya Evans and her fellow campaigner both now have criminal records.

Is this the democracy and freedom of speech we are supposed to be encouraging and implementing in iraq?

I'd encourage those interested to try and watch Harold Pinter's acceptance speech on the occasion of his being awarded the Nobel Literature Prize. He describes politicians in general as being power-hungry to the extent where they manipulate laws to serve themselves. He had some even choicer words for Blair and Bush. @ axxxr

No probs, glad to help.

I remember the last time we posted in a thread, you were thoroughly against me (regarding the congestion charge and the Mayor). If we couldn't agree on that, I was glad to see (in another thread) that you oppose the end of the Routemaster.

Yes i do remember that discussion about the congestion charge, sorry if i offended you that time but i am a bit notorius for coming on strong regarding my political opinons as many members on esato will tell you.

Before we get off topic here i do respect everyones opinon and very much respect people such as the invidual above who speak out against injustice and are willing to go to any lengths to fight for what they believe in...I can relate to her very much as i have encountered similer problems outside and even here on esato.

Even though i am a supporter of Ken livingston i don't exactly agree with everything that he does.
