First of all, this is the latest in my series of reviews im going to put foward to help you guys make the right choices of random bits I pic up

IPOD VIDEO REVIEW

Now basically I have just got a ipod video to review, bought from apple friday arrived today, so 1st thing is the delivery is good.

Now as ive had most of the ipods, and my 1st commet is its a nicly packaged item, but the box is to small, it comes in this tiny box, which makes me wonder where the hell my acessories are? But it has to be said its nicley designed and is something you want to open

what is included:

ipod
usb cable
headphones and covers
universal dock adapter
instructions
case thingy

compare this to the 3rd generation ipod:

ipod
dock
charger
usb lead
firewire lead
instructions
remote
headphones - and covers
conector plugs
firewire adapter

as you can see they really have cut down on the normal accessories, which is a bit annoying unless you have some spare, whcih I did so I dont mind, but id have liked the box to feel like its got something in it.

Now next bit, I open the box, and its all nicely laid out so when you slide it out of the box it opens up and revels this sexy white body wrapped in a bit of plastic stuff. The acessories are tucked away in the flap and are nicley wrapped, not much else to say about those.

Now came the next bit updating it, as I already use itunes all my music is there and I have the latest version with all the artwork and photos linked up to it, but that is a very simple job.

Connecting the ipod I found the 2nd downfall of the ipod. as I mentioned earlier I already had the acessroirs, adn pugged it into a firewire cable, but apple have decided to stop supporting the firewire cable, and thats annoying as my mac has the usb 1.1 on usb, which means it takes ages to download your music onto it, this isnt a problem if you have a newer pc or mac.

Ok now as its still updating il talk some more baout the design. Its absoultly amazing, it has a curved base which means it fits snug into the plam of your hand like the other generations, but its got this nice flat top surface which looks really good and a bit more like a pmp, whcih I think is quite nice, also its about half the width of a 20gb 4th gen ipod, and has a extra 10gb memory. One of the attractions to this is the large 2.5" colour lcd, which has to be said is really crisp and alot better then the ipod photo.

the click wheel is great, very responsive and ergonomic and your thumb glides over it, the hold switch ontop is easy to grip and slide accross and the connector and headphone slot are well placed.

It has to be said unlike the sony hd3 I reviewed a few weeks back, the menu system is excelent, this is definetly one of the really strong point of the ipod, its so easy to navigate its unreal.

Now as its still updating I cant review it any more, so il finnish it later.

Pros

extremely good menu system
nice crisp and bright lcd
well thought out ergonomic design which is a unique style in its self
very good update software which is very easy to use
harder to scratch then the previous generations

conns

doesnt support firewire - twats!
Lack of acessoires
can be scratched easier then other ipod on the market
