I think if you take a careful look at the sellers feedback you won't get ripped off. Just make sure the feedback is >95% positive and looks genuine (not different people leaving the exact same feedback message).

I so far haven't had a problem. Done probably close to 500 trades, and no problem so far.... though got a bit of a problem at the mo with someone, hopefully I haven't spoken too soon!

check the feedback. make sure they are not all buying or all selling, and that they are not all posted within like a week of each other. Check previous other items too. if they all happen to be phones (from a private seller), then smell a rat. Get in contact with someone who won an item about 3 months or-so ago if you're still woried and ask. People generally will help out for the sake of an email.
I've never had a problem with ebay (except for some Nigerian moron who top-bidded on my old P800 and wanted it to go to Africa! we soon sorted that one out with a complaint). In fact I've had more problems buying stuff from Amazon's "used " places. They really are a bunch of fly-by-nights.

Seems like everywhere I go there's a complaint about Nigerians. Is there anyone out there who has had good and positive dealings with Nigerians?...... Please?.....Anyone?

@ambyzown - I bet you get pretty pissed at all these sleights against your country, and I bet you've had problems buying things the moment you say you're from Nigeria!
I have to say also that the only problems I've had buying/selling have been here on Esato, once scammed for £40, and another time buying some bits and phones and none of them were as advertised - broken or missing accessories.

I have to say that somebody selling a P900 on eBay is likely to have more problems than you trying to buy one.
Finally sold mine a few weeks ago after having to relist it twice after my auction was hijacked by an attempted scam.
They basically outbid any genuine buyers then attempt to get you to send it to relative abroad somewhere.
Like has already been said..... the key with sellers is in the feedback.
