Alcatel is really suffering. It is axing 20,000 jobs by the end of this year and this is after the 30,000 jobs that it has already axed globally leaving about 60,000 people still working for it by next year. To top it, Alcatel is struggling to get cash either from its banks or its shareholders and so we may not see new models from them. Very likely that Alcatel might be taken over from some other company soon.
Not so good news to all you guys who hold Alcatel phones

Sheesh, these companies are falling like flies. I wonder how the world economy will look in 2 years, or even next year. Just one by one, more and more job cuts all the time.

alcatel will die because of limited technologie in there phones and a bit strange design.
alcatel should merge whit phillips, that way they can go one for a year of 2 longer.

So who even still makes phones that a phone buff would covet at all? Im thinking SE, Nokia, and possibly Motorola, in that order...

Guys don't get me wrong. When I went over to Paris earlier this year for holidays, the majority of the people were using Alcatels. I was amazed!

riflogic: in France operators offer many different brands (subsidized), that's why you see these French brands quite much around like Alcatel, Trium, Sagem.
