I emailed SE to see if I can get authentic housings from them, and at what cost... here is their reply:

"Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Online Support.

Repair parts are not available to purchase. Replacing parts yourself will Void your Warranty. If you would like to setup a repair on your phone, please contact a customer service representative at 1-866-766-9374 for assistance. Due to the type of damage, a fee will apply for the repair.

So obviously we can't buy real housings. Nor can these sellers that sell "housings" are selling genuine parts. The SE repair places can't just take these out of their inventory, and throw them on internet shops, or ebay. If so, then when it's time for inventory count, they'll see thousands of housings missing. And the amount missing doesn't correspond to the amount being serviced.

I've worked in a company before like this, and everytime we do repairs, we have to write off what parts were replace, and how many were taking off inventory for it.

Just as I suspected.....

Are you sure? Not saying your wrong or anything... but i've previously bought a K500i silver housing for when i used to own it and it was exactly like the original that came with the phone.

And 'Mobile Fun' seem to sell original K750i replacement parts:

Nah, I'm not sure. Just a big assumption.

Many people have said Fatmui sells "OEM" housings, and they are pleased with it, (just that buttons don't fit...) HMMMM. And ofcourse my experience in the other thread with pictures disproving the authenticity.

Then other people praises cnn.cn because they offer OEM parts too, and "they can tell it's real". Yet other folks said their buttons don't fit, their logo is off. And some people even say Fatmui buys off of cnn.cn.

But I highly doubt SE would sell housings to consumers just like that. They want to make money by servicing themselves to make more $, else have the consumer buy another phone.

Just my theory.

Why wouldnt reapir centres sell the items? They are a business and as such will sell to anyone that wants to buy.

SE are basically saying they wont sell you 1 item. I am pretty sure if you asked to buy 50keypads, 50handsfree kits, 50 cases etc they would soon start selling you what you require.

It is true there are loads of fakes around.....just use common sense and its easy to avoid these.

At our company, when we sell spare parts to our customers, we mark it up 300%. We get these rates by comparing with other companies to know what the standard rates are.

I have a T-mobile shop around my place where I purchase the phone, and they also do repair services for SE and Samsung phones. I check out their products and can tell they used imitations. I had to pay them cash to buy my k750i, else if I used credit card, they'd charge tax. Hm... something smells illegal.

But if you guys honestly believe you can get authentic k750i housings, PLEASE let me know where, or else hook me up, and I'll pay you.

I highly doubt that a respectable mobile e-tailer like mobilefun.com would lie about having Original OEM K750i housing and replacement parts.

Plus with my previous K500i, i bought this OEM housing from Ebay (which is real) after having bought an imitation black housing from Ebay (which wasn't listed as being OEM- and couldn't have been anyways if it were black as the K500i is onlt available in black/blue).

I compared these two housings and also compared one of them (the OEM K500i silver housing from Ebay) to the one that came with the K500i and i can assure you that it is original and not an imitation.

Thanks,

I will try Mobilefun.co.uk. Hope it is what you say. I'm one of those really skeptical people who has to "see it to believe it".

OEM means other than original, OEM parts are parts made by other manufacturers than the original manufaturer. Therefore OEM also means imitation.

And it is true, there are no original S//E made housings for sale for private customers. Only OEM housings. But theres a big qualitydifference between OEM products, some are made by reputable authorised manufacturers, others are simply cheap poor made copys from asia, like fake rolexes etc.
