OK so Motorola create a fashion phone, its the Motorola Razr V3 in silver;
then the sleek black version;
all is going well until;
then;
now we're milking it a little;
why do people keep buying this phone then? is it really that special? after five official releases its still here!
silver, black, pink, gold, blue, ???? next ????

The best bit is that it started out as a super-premium phone and now it's an el cheapo prepay Xmas gift!

@
jmcomms - exactly! so what is it that makes people pay for it, its completely outdated, and with 2 (two) new version on the way, the V3i & the V3x shouldn't it have been out the window a long time ago?
the silver / black I have to admit to start with were nice fashion phones, then the pink version arrived and I almost threw up because my girlfriend got one

hehe, when I saw the gold one I did like it, but not for the cost! also the blue one, if i got one i could match my g/f, pink for the girl, blue for the boy, grrr.. this phone gets on my nerves so often because its such a common peace of trash these days!

You don’t understand one simple thing. The original RAZR V3 is a classic. The V3i and V3x or whatever else are just the exploitation of the original idea, and people don’t need them, they need an idea. That’s why it is much interesting to buy a new V3 for 250 usd if you don’t have one instead of paying too much for the same idea but with something else like 1.3 mpx camera… The second problem is after the huge success of RAZR V3 Motorola decided not to invent too much new but to use the old one design and conceptions that’s why V3i or V3x will never become as popular as the original Razr V3.

For your interest, the Gold phones is not a V3, its the new V3i, which has a 1.3 MP camera, and a Trans card slot for mem card.
The V3 is a design classic, whether you like it or not, it's one of the most sought after handsets on the market, and has been for at least the last year., How many other handsets retain their, MUST HAVE status for that long?, Not many, if any!

I got my brand new BLACK V3 about 2 weeks ago. It was offered by a local network at a LOW price - PAYG, that's why I took it . . . for a CHANGE feel too! I thought that it ALREADY has a 1 MP cam

but to my dismay, it only has a VGA one

. . . some brochures says that it HAS only - 5 MB of internal memory capacity, but was quite surprised to see that it provides 6+ (almost 7 MB) MB of FREE space

i don't know what's so good with a RAZR. sucking GUI, slug response and very very limited memory, but hence, I still love my V3, i have all these fones, but when i go out with big peeps, i usually bring my black one, simply to flaunt it, and tag along my w800 as my main fone.

It keeps going because people keep buying it, its a nice looking phone and most people dont buy a phone for features, they buy it cus it looks nice!
and who can blame motorola for milking it!

ori has it right, its a classic, just like the startac before it
I buy phones to try, and to play with, then generally sell them on, but the V3 and the Startac 130 are two phones that I have kept since new. There is just something about them.
Can't say the pink does much for me but I can see the reason for marketing them and the fact that cpw, for example, cannot keep up with demand makes it clear that at the price they sell for they are very popular.
I have a dummy black V3 too and can't say thats my taste.
I'm just waiting for the V3i to become available somewhere for me to grab and would jump at the gold if I wasn't already trying to justify a Breitling B1 or Aerospace to my wife!
I guess also the discussion going on in the
Manufacturers - The year in Review according to mobile gazette thread adds weight to Motorola pushing the RAZR range since that is apparantly keeping them popular
