My sony ericsson k750i can't read my 2gb memory stick duo pro. The phone won't even fully turn on with the memory stick inside it so I have to put it in after startup.

Even when the phone is plugged into my computer the computer can't see the memory stick is there.

Any thoughts as to why this would be?

The sony website has it litsted as supporting up to 2GB

"Memory Stick PRO Duo™
A mini peripheral storage device (up to 2GB) capable of storing pictures, music, applications and more. Compatible with many cameras. PCs and other devices"

And I'm 100% sure the memory card I have "Memory Stick PRO Duo High Speed 2GB MagicGate is supported"

As for the memory card it came with... I don't have that. This is a second hand phone. The phone did not come with the memory card (it's so small it would have been of no use to me).

I'm looking into updating the firmware but the phone is new to me so I don't yet know how to do that.

If I can't get that to work then I'll stop by Future Shop and try a 1GB memory card there.

You may have brought a dud phone as it was second hand!
Did you have any guarantee that the memory function was
working before you paid for it?

Was it from a friend or from a shop?

You may have to get your money back!!!!!

I'm not sure about Sandisk's 2GB sticks but I can confirm that Sony's 2GB ditto works well in my K750i. The card type is MSX-M2GS. (Right now I have 1373 MB free with 528 MB used for ripped CD's and a few megs of photos...)

sandisks should work too
maybe it's a bad card?
do you have another card reader besides the phone to format it?

It should work fine. Which firmware are you running? Try upgrading to the latest one if you havent done so already.
