> K750i as TV remote

I know this has come up before but I'm hoping somethings new has come to light through the grape vine. Is there any way to make the K750i act as a TV remote? Software? Patch? Cable?

There is actually a way... use your K750 to call someone and yell at them untill they go and change the channel on your TV for you... problem solved

install a TV card in your pc, hook the tv card up to your TV set, and use the bluetooth remote HID profiles to change channels on the pc with your phone. hehe.
Seriously, only way it's going to happen with a k750i.

hehe, i haven't heard any midlet that can control your TV set i.e. changing the channel.
but there's a midlet that can remotely control your PC media player & powerpoint presentations or any windows/Mac applications using your SE bluetooth enabled phone.

I think its something to do with CIR and SIR, where the former stands for Consumer grade Infra-Red and has a much stronger range up to 10m, e.g TV remotes, and some PDAs like the Dell Axim. SIR stands for Serial Infra-Red and is used for data transmissions, and has a range of up to a metre or so. I believe SIR is the type that is used in mobile phones and most PDAs.
So in effect, you can use your SE infra red phone to control the TV, but not at a practical range. You might as well walk up and change the channel from the front panel of the TV itself.

The P900's are an exception. They are one of the few phones with a reasonable IR range. Believe me the K750 is only a couple of inches.
