Alright guys, was just wondering if you can help, when I try to setup a network connection between my PSP and my router, the PSP manages to access the router but then spends a couple of minutes trying to obtain the IP address but then it times out, I don't know whats going on, because my cousins PSP works fine with the router and we've got the same settings. Any help is appreciated. Cheers guys This message was posted from a K750

That's strange, if its on auto, switch to manual and enter the settings displayed on the other PSP, (although obviously with a different IP),

That's the only thing I can think of.

My router didn't work automatically and I had to enter it manually and then it worked...

Ok I'll try that, advantage is portable internet access, game downloads, and PSP updates. Cheers This message was posted from a K750

does the router have MAC addresses pre-defined? i.e. his is defined and yours isn't? that would stop you getting an IP address

on the router setup pages, is there a page that shows what devices are connected or trying to connect?

I've setup both mids kids PSPs, with WEP too, and all is well

I'd say some sort of security setting is preventing you getting an ip address and if thats the case, manually defining an address will probably still not get you access through the router

Well I've tried manual access but no joy, on my PSP settings I've got a MAC address, don't know if this means anything but the default router has changed to 0.0.0.0 from a value I copied from the other PSP. I'm pretty sure the WEP key I'm using is correct. Cheers This message was posted from a K750

I didn't realise you were also usnig a WEP key. if that is not correct then you also will not get an ip address or access through the router

its really fiddly on the PSP to enter the WEP key and it took me a couple of goes to get it right, so perhaps try entering that one more time, although there is a checksum performed to ensure the key you enter is a valid one, even if its not the one that matches your router

also I assume if you're using 128bit on the router you are also using 128bit on the PSP? might be worth double checking

just go right through all the security stuff again to be sure

good luck!
