hello!
I have a question. Is it technically possible to change the menu layout/icons on the k750i phone? I know that some branded phones (O2,Orange) use several modified brand-icons.

do those brands make the changes on their own, or do they order a specific GUI firmware from the SE?

where are those graphics stored? in the firmware? on the phone itself? are there any technical docs about their implementation?


if it's not possible, then I'd like to know how those before mentioned brands manage to customize their software.

I've emailed the SE service but they have no idea at all...

the files are probably stored in the customisation area of the phones firmware.

Hmm....sounds interesting, but very highly unlikely on the K750. Though I do like the w550's alternative icon display in the menu. Would have been nice to even have something similar to that....oh well

Techically, this *is* possible. The icons are all .PNG files, stored in the phone's file system. It is possible to download them from the phone using a script in Sonics.

@rein4ce: Yes, techically it's possible! Orange, Vodafone etc doesn't make their own icons, they order them from SE.
Icons are stored in firmware.
I had a tool, called SEISART with which you could change ALL icons within the firmware (in .bin format). I'm not 100% sure that it works in newer phoes fw, but it worked in elder phones'. I guess it should work with the newer ones, too. You just need o convert the fw to .bin format and search for the pictures' addresses. It's not easy to find them.

Nice site, really, but can't you include an english section too? I suppose for a lot of us here is hard to read and understand Hungarian.
