Hi all, been a reader and browser of this forum for yonks now but finally signed up!

Basically I've had my P910i with Voda for just over a year now and as I'm overdue an upgrade it's itchy feet time! I've liked the P910i a lot, the only real drawbacks have been its size and it's poor camera/video capability. So poor that I never use it in fact whereas on my previous Sharp GX20 I'd use the camera option frequently.

I very briefly saw my mates W900i when out on NYE and he was taking a video on it in a dimly lit bar. The quality was excellent! Best I've seen yet on the phone. Voda have offered me the W900i for £30 on an upgrade but my main concern is regretting switching from the P910i. Benefits of the W900i are the camera and video taking and slightly smaller size, though marginal.

My worries are these though. It seems it has no option for having your sms/mms's stored in folders as I currently do. Not sure how comprehensive the contacts section is compared to the P910i. Not sure if the swivel keypad would be an iritation especially as I do a large amount of text messaging every month. To be honest I'm not a user that has taken full advantage of the PDA functions of the P910i and a lot of the features are ones I never really use. It's nice to have the knowledge that it can store pretty much any info I need wherever I am.

My other option is to perhaps wait for the P990 as this may combine the best of both worlds from the P910i and W900i? Though I don't want to hold out for a phone and then find myself not even scratching the surface of its features.

Confused! Keep the P910i? Get the W900i? Wait and get the P990?

Any thoughts/advice based on what I've mentioned would be appreciated! Perhaps some of you out there have gone from a P910i to the W900i? Any regrets if you have?!

Thanks in advance!

Hmm perhaps. Is it going to have the same video quality as the W900i though.

I'm in a similar position. I have a P900 now and am due an upgrade soon.

I don't know whether to go for a P910 now or wait for the P990.

I think that the P990's wifi will swing it for me though and I will hold out til then I think.

quite simple really, P990 if you need/use a PDA.

if you don't, but want a top notch media phone, then it would be the W900. if its size and form factor appeal to you, that is...

Exactly. You see as I said I very rarely make full use of the P910i's PDA functions and apps etc. That said I am worried that if I went the W900 route I'd miss some of the basic functions of the P910i like the ability to organise your messages in folders etc. Though I really would like the camera and video capability of the W900. Decisions decisions!

Afaik the camera in the w900 and the p990 are the same, so I'd rather wait for the p990 if I were you. It shouldn't take that long now :)

As the previous poster said, the P990 will (at least) equal the W900 on camera and video quality, so really it'll be a combination of all the things you like about the P910 and the W900. The only real question is whether you're patient enough to wait for it

To Scoobyd,

If you really have to choose between the W900i and P990, then maybe you would like the W900i better. I'm trying hard not to sound too elitist here, but forgive me for saying the P9xx ae not for every one.

You say you don't care much about the PDA functions of the P990, but there is far more to the P990 than just organizer and calendar!

Do you do any mobile browsing use the extensive sync features available on your current P910? Or are you more into flashy games, music, pictures, videos, etc.? If you fall into the latter category then the P910 must've been a big disappointment. In this area, the P990 will definitely bring things back into proper places.

If, however you need anything that is remotely close to the way I use my 2 year old P900, then anything less will just not cut it!

It all boils down to how much these two words mean to you:

Jog-dial and Touch-screen!
