I went to the local asda today and i had to take money out from the cash point. There were 3 and there was a big que at 2 of them, i went up to the 3rd one which had a windows error box asking for the Windows setup CD This just made me laugh out loud, Since when have cash points used windows and what do we do if they crash with ours cards in them?

I saw an email booth or something and windows was up on the touchscreen, although couldnt work it.
I believe Windows is widely used, didn't know it was this widespread.

@jag: They don't use regular windows for ATM's and kiosks etc. Microsoft released as special version of windows for such applications, called XPe. Read about it HERE

Ps. Do any of you remember the famous (infamous?) PSP Signboard with the windows error?

I don't see why they don't just use a propiretary system or even a version of Linux; to my mind it'd be easier and probably a fair bit cheaper.

i know they dont use reguler windows. But it was asking for a setup disk which is what made me laugh.
