I have searched but not found anyone with my problem. I have spent ages on the phone and e-mail to Sony Ericsson with no success.

Am using the Update Service. Go through all the instructions and get the message 'No deskstand connected!'. Have tried everything. Most of these suggested by SE. These are the things SE said it might be.

- The phone is not fully charged. Sony Ericsson Update Service cannot be used unless the phone is at least 50 percent charged.

- The phone is not switched off and properly inserted in the Desk Stand. If you have the charger connected to the Desk Stand, please disconnect it.

- Antivirus and firewall software are not switched off. They may interfere with Update Service.

- Make sure that this port is checked. Also while doing this; please check that the port is not enabled in PHONE MONITOR OPTIONS from CONTROL PANEL.

- Try to uninstall the Java Virtual Machine from Sun Microsystems. Then download the latest Java version from Microsoft or the latest Java Virtual Machine from www.java.com.

-You have Pop up blocker software running on your system. This will also need to be disabled.

-You web browser privacy settings are set to high. Please set these to 'Medium' or 'Low'.

- It is also advisable to delete cookies and files from in your web browser's internet options

-Try USB in a different port.

No success and Sony Ericsson say there is no more they can help me with. Please, does anyone have any ideas or point me to where this has been covered?

Have you tried righclick on the "Phone connection link" down at the right corner and then under properties uncheck all?

You also have to put your phone in as showed - turned off and without the simcard.

Give it a try

Have removed battery, then sim card, then put battery back in, left phone off and re-docked as per instructions.

Yes it is my first time updating. Have a very old UK version of the P910 so way out of date.

Thanks for the response guys. Any more ideas welcome.

Thanks, I would really like to know. Sony Ericsson have been fairly unhelpful with this one.

I've upgraded my P910i firmware without problems - I use a W2K Laptop. Here's my list of tips - just note that some of these are over the top and perhaps not even necessary, but they have always worked for me:

P910i Firmware upgrade Tips

Do this before Upgrade:
1) Make sure the battery is fully charged
2) Install the latest java client on your PC before starting. Get this from www.java.com
3) If you (still) have Powerpoint installed in RAM (you may have got it from the CD that came with the phone or installed from the SE website) remove it - BEFORE you do your backup
4) Take the opportunity to remove any unwanted apps or files. The restore process is very slow and some apps take a long time to copy back - anything with lots of files such as Avant Go, mail, etc. The less you have, the faster everything will be. Any removed apps can be reinstalled after everything is done.
5) Do a full backup (I mean it!)
6) Remove the Memory stick
7) Using the hidden service menu, format your internal memory*
Use Microsoft IE when connected to the Sony Ericisson website. Other browsers do work, but this one always works
9) Disable Firewalls if possible
10) Close all tasks on your PC before doing the upgrade - IE should be the only thing running.
11) Go to the SE site & do the ugrade (do exactly what you are told!)
12) Replace the Memory Stick & do a restore - this will take hours.

* Reformat the C: drive (Diagnostics routine)
Scroll up (only 1 step)
Press *
Scroll down (1 step)
Scroll down (1 step)
Press *
Scroll down (1 step)
Press *

Im having same problem ...docking station works ok all the time ..the old update service worked fine all the time ...but with new update service i am getting the "'No deskstand connected" comming up .
What i have noticed though is when you remove sim card and try and dock it on the dss25 it dosent reconise it ...but does if you leave the sim card in and phone on .!!!

Strange?
