Would TomTom work on a P910i with no SIM card in it? reason I ask is I want to upgrade to the P990i ASAP but I can't lose TomTom so the option would be to keep my old P910i in the car and just use it as a SatNav device. I guess if it wont I can just get a PAYG SIm and use that in it.

The P910i wont work without a sim. Even a disconnected sim will work though.

No. The phone will ask for the correct sim. It will only work with a vodafone sim, it doesnt matter if the sim is active or not.

I'm on O2, and managed to get hold of some free pay-as-you-go sims that I can shove in my phones if I need to have them turned on simultaneously (eg. for transferring contacts, using for GPS only etc)

Shouldn't be too hard to get hold of an old, or payg sim for Vodafone.

You could always get the phone unlocked online so you can use one of your Orange SIMs. Try http://www.totalmultiserver.com/ for instance -- worked well for my P910.

Or you easily pick up a Vodafone PAYG SIM on eBay for a few bob.

No, unfortunately not. The phone just won't come on with a SIM. It's quite a limitation in practice, really.

A test SIM wil work! But you need to have one. Also a SIM which is
used with an old contract may work.
