Hiya,
I love the specs on the W900i and I would upgrade from my Z1010 in an instant if I could get my head around mechanism for opening the handset.
Demo models seem to be really rare here in Stockholm as the phone has only just been launched, but I've seen videos of how the jack saw mechanism seems to work. Seems you can flip it open pretty easily with one hand, but the next bit just kills me...
The keyboard ends up upside down, and you need to turn the whole phone 180 degrees just to send a text! Am I mistaken, or is this really the only way to do it?
Is there no easy way to hold the keyboard part of the phone, and flip the screen around?
How do W900i owners find this kind of mechanism works for them? I know clam shell vs jack saw vs candy bar is matter of preference, but I'd like to know practical W900i owners find the mechanism on this phone.
Also, has anyone scratched the lense on their W900i yet?

I hold the phone upside-down when it's closed, then flip it open so it's the right way up when open.
The camera can be used for both self-portraits and video calls.

Ok i never thought about how i work the flip before, i'm a long time s700i user before i got my w900i. But when i get an SMS, i seem to have naturally developed the following way of opening/closing the phone:
i'll read the txt, hit reply, hit ok for new message, then to start typing...
i'm left handed by the way... i'll turn the whole phone 180 degrees clockwise in my palm so it's upside down, then push the left side of the phone with my thumb so it flicks open anti-clockwise.
then i'll write the text, and to close the phone, i'll move my thumb up the left side of the open phone, up to about level with 1/3rd of the screen height, and just push sideways with my thumb to rotate it shut.
never had to use two hands to open or close it.
If you're right handed, invert the whole procedure, so it's turn upside down anti-clockwise, push right side so it flicks open clockwise.

have had my w900i for almost a month used alot find it very easy to use i like the sound when it opens is like a sword being pulled out of case
the screen and lens cover have no scratches at all my k750i
used to get a few
the material in the w900i screen seems even better than k750i not a mark is really good

If so, I think I wait for the next 3G, 2M+ camera, walkman phone from SE with a different form factor. Any news on when this will arrive?

s700i was the same design also a good phone
sony ericsson will normally announce a phone about 3-4 months before it is due for release so there isnt likely going to be any different designs for at least 3 months normally they update models on a yearly basis when people on existing handsets get an upgrade
so next w900i will probably be a year away

well, it also depends which way you have it in your pocket! If youre Z1010 is turned the wrong way in your pocket, when you take it out youve got to flip it the right way round before opening it!
its easy to turn the W900 round in 1 hand anyway before opening it. hold it in your palm, put your bottom 2 fingers on the bottom right side of the phone(if you right handed) and spin it round using your thumb before grabbing it again, then use the same thumb to flick the screen part round and you can do it all in 1 action...
