There seems to be no discussion about the w550.
Is is that bad? Or is it just a bit ordinary?

OK, I admit I didn't look very hard, but while the forums seems choc full of comments on the w800/k750 etc the w550 seemed almost ignored.
Of course, that could well be a good thing if it means that everyone isn't shouting "problem" and instead are just enjoying the phone too much to bother posting...
So, I take it the w550 is relatively trouble-free (apart from a few lock-ups I've read about)? And no cheap joystick is a good thing?
Thanks again all. For some reason, despite vowing never to have anoher SE phone (after my awful k700) I keep coming back for another look...

Yeah, its pretty useless when compared to a k750i/w800i or even S700i pic!

I'm not that fussed about the camera - it's nice to have but other features are more important.

Actually the W550 camera is on par with the S700. Just a matter of using the correct settings. That and the W550 has a lot more memory than the S700 had (S700 had small internal memory and could only take up to 128mb for external memory). W550 has 256mb of memory. If you install the latest firmware from SEUS you will find the camera has been improved as well as the phone working a lot faster.
Latest software for the W550 is R4BA041 and camera version is now 4.5.
Agree that its nowhere near as good as the K750/W800 but you can't compare it to those phones as the W550 is set in a lower class.
I have the S700, K750, W800 and also the W550 and really like the W550 a lot.

Maybe I'm biased, since I got it for those particular reasons, but it's hard trying to think out of the box since it's specs aren't really groundbreaking, what other reasons are there for getting it?
In terms of hierarchy, the W550 is positioned in the middle-tier. Therefore, once you've gone 'up' to use the W810 (for e.g.) then the W550 won't suffice.
I guess more people made the leap, pulled a little more from their pockets to get the W800/900, since it's probably more worth it that way, in the long run.
Less people means there's less hype, especially in comparison to the amount of posts/threads each day about the K750/W800/W810/W900/P9xx.
