The cable just doesn't seem to work. I'm using Win XP on my pc as well on my labtop and the installation process is without any problems whatsoever. But my phone doesn't get picked up by either the "phone Settings" appication or apps from Christersson.org.
I've downloaded the newest drivers from the SE site, which states that the drivers are verified for 98/Me/2000. How about XP?

Install the drivers for xp then connect the phone and the pc with this cable and open mobile phone monitor or image editor for your phone and wait 1 minute
It works for me
